Kieran Tierney Set to Stay at Arsenal, Celtic Shift Focus to Other Left-Back Targets

Kieran Tierney is set to remain at Arsenal until the end of the season, dealing a blow to Celtic’s hopes of bringing him back on loan this January. According to Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph, Celtic, who had hoped to reunite with their former star, are now considering alternative left-back options as the transfer deadline approaches.

Tierney, who rose through Celtic’s youth ranks and made 170 appearances for the first team, scoring 8 goals and providing 37 assists, has turned down offers to move abroad or stay in the Premier League. Despite interest from clubs like Bayer Leverkusen, Sevilla, Juventus, and Everton, who were reportedly keen on signing him on a free transfer in the summer, Tierney’s heart seems set on a return to Parkhead. However, it now appears that the 27-year-old will stay at Arsenal for the remainder of the season, with plans for a summer move to Celtic already in place.

Celtic are not giving up on strengthening their squad before the January deadline and are reportedly eyeing Brighton forward Evan Ferguson, who is expected to leave the Seagulls on loan before February 3.

For Arsenal, Tierney’s lack of game time this season – with just 5 appearances and 1 start in the 2024/25 campaign – has led to speculation about his future. However, with the window closing soon, it seems he will continue at the Emirates for the next few months, before a likely summer return to Scotland.
